At the invitation of President General Pervez Musharraf, President Isaias Afwerki, President of the State of Eritrea will visit Pakistan from February 24-26. "The Eritrean President will be accompanied by a high level delegation including the Ministers of Health, Education and National Development while this will be the President Isaias first visit to Pakistan", a Foreign Office statement said on Tuesday.

Engagements of President Isaias include official talks with President of Pakistan who will host a dinner for the visiting dignitary. Eritrean President will also call on the Prime Minister and discuss matters of mutual interest. He will also meet officials and members of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Pakistan and Eritrea enjoy close and co-operative relations, based on identity of views on major regional and international issues. Eritrea has always supported Pakistan's position on various important issues at international forums, the statement said.

It further stated that the measures to reinforce bilateral ties particularly in the trade, economic, education and health fields will also be reviewed by the two sides.

The two countries are expected to propose signing of Agreements on expanding bilateral trade, economic and educational co-operation during the visit of the Eritrean President to Pakistan.
